Accessories For Use with The BlackBox

These accessories can be used to extend the functionality of the BlackBox

Use this cable to plug in to the External Sensor Port and connect your own devices. The 3.5mm end plugs in to the BlackBox and the other end has screw terminals to accept wires. These wires can then be screwed in and secured using the included screwdriver. The external sensor port works with normally open devices. Make sure you understand this when using sensors.

This cable will plug right into the external sensor port and then extend the range of the sensor from the BlackBox. For example, you could keep the BlackBox inside a vehicle while the external sensor is placed outside. This would be good for securing rooftop items while at the same time protecting items inside the vehicle.

The reed switches are either normally closed or normally open. Even though the BlackBox uses normally open sensors maybe one day you will need normally closed for something. So why not get these, the price is as cheap as any others but with the added bonus of being futureproof.
These are great for doors or windows and can be adapted to almost anything that needs to be protected.

If your vehicle doesn't have a power port that is able to be used when the car if off, then you would have to run the BlackBox off a battery pack. And that will work but what if you could use the much larger capacity battery in the vehicle?
The OBD2 port in your vehicle is usually hidden which means you can also hide the BlackBox and still have it be powered. This coupled with an external sensor will let you hide the BlackBox as well.

These are a must and if you do not have these at all for your other devices then buy these now. The price is right, and you get two. And having one charge while using the other means that you always have a charged battery. These each will run the BlackBox for a day probably longer.

And not to be forgotten what about being able to tether the BlackBox to a hotspot for areas without Wi-Fi? There is no better way to repurpose an old cellphone than to use it for a hotspot. Normally for a hotspot you just use your phone to get your other devices online. Well, if we do that with the BlackBox then we have to leave the phone with the BlackBox, and this is not practical.
So, to the rescue comes your old cellphone and we just need it for the hotspot. If you already have a spare line to use with it, then great you are good. But if not then shop around for a deal on a sim card that you can use with the old phone. I already did this and found that Tello was the cheapest I could find. And for under $8.00 per month including all taxes I get 100 minutes, unlimited text and 500mb of data.
The data is all I use it for and 500mb is enough to send Telegram notifications.
Now that you have a hotspot you also have a way around the Captive Portals that will stop you from connecting to some public Wi-Fi hotspots directly with the BlackBox.
